WGSHA,the Welcome Group School of Hotel Administration situated in the manipal university campus organized their annual inter college competition for hotel management colleges across the country. The competition goes by the name of Quest. Being overall champions from last year put on added pressure on this year's team. Various platforms were chosen for the students of the top colleges in India to be judged on. Front office situation handling, quiz, bartending skills and table laying, treasure hunt across the manipal University campus, culinary competitions and dance and dramatics. Wgsha quest tested each students capabilities to the limit, both intellectual and physical. The team chosen to represent our college this year for the events were Anvesh Bhandhari, Shivargha Chakravarti, Swapnadip Dutta, Veena Sunkari, Hari Hara Sudhan, Jonathan N Pde, Mewan, Ajith , Jamphel, Balasubramanyum. The culinary competitions had events such as Mithas which is a Indian confectionary(halwai) competition for which the famous Mysore Pak from Karnataka was made by our student, Entre which was a main course mystery box challenge round and Painted Platter which was a plated dessert competition. The globetrotter competition was a short film making competition where the students were required to make a tourism video on their city of origin and the manipal lake as the second location. We bagged the 1st prize for this event. For dance a theme of amar jawan was chosen to pay tribute to the selfless soldiers of the Indian Army, a beautiful and synchronized array of steps and formations left the judges in awe. A silver medal in front office role play, painted platter, dance saw our college awarded the overall runners up trophy at Quest 2017. We returned with a heavy heart but with a lot of learning’s and advice for our juniors as to what it is to perform and give more than your very best at a National Level Competition.
