FLOWER ARRANGEMENT COMPETITION 2026

CULINARY ACADEMY OF INDIA BLOOMS TO VICTORY AT THE FLOWER ARRANGEMENT COMPETITION 2026

The Culinary Academy of India (CAI), Hyderabad, once again demonstrated its all-round excellence by securing the 1st Position at the Flower Arrangement Competition 2026, held at IHM Hyderabad. The inter-collegiate competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from six reputed institutions, making it a vibrant and closely contested event that celebrated creativity, precision, and artistic sensibility.

Representing the Academy with elegance and innovation was Maitreyee Soni, who competed in the Freestyle Flower Arrangement category. Her entry was based on the evocative theme “Floral Salute to Freedom Fighters”, conceived as a heartfelt tribute to the heroes who shaped India’s independence. Through her arrangement, Maitreyee beautifully translated patriotism and respect into a powerful floral expression.

The composition featured an exquisite selection of Carnations, Baby’s Breath, Orchids, Chrysanthemums, Button Daisies, and Asparagus leaves, thoughtfully curated to achieve harmony, balance, and symbolism. A striking highlight of the arrangement was a peacock motif, creatively crafted using button daisies and orchids, symbolizing pride, grace, and the spirit of the nation. The overall presentation stood out for its originality, refined aesthetics, and emotional depth.

Her exceptional performance earned her the First Prize, bringing pride and recognition to the Culinary Academy of India.

The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Ms. Vineetha, a renowned Ikebana Expert, and Mr. Pranith S, Assistant Executive Housekeeper, ITC Kakatiya. The judges highly appreciated Maitreyee’s artistic interpretation, technical accuracy, and her ability to transform a freestyle concept into a visually captivating and meaningful floral tribute.

This commendable achievement was made possible through the visionary leadership of Chef Sudhakar N. Rao, Director Principal of the Culinary Academy of India, and Chef Akkshay Kulkarni, Head of the Department, whose constant encouragement and emphasis on holistic hospitality education continue to inspire students to excel beyond conventional boundaries.

On an operational level, the success was further strengthened by the dedicated mentorship and support of the faculty team, whose guidance enabled the student to refine her skills and perform with confidence on a competitive platform.

By securing the top position at IHM Hyderabad, the Culinary Academy of India has once again brought laurels to the institution. The entire CAI fraternity proudly congratulates Maitreyee Soni for her outstanding achievement and for upholding the Academy’s legacy of excellence across all domains of hospitality education.
